Stella & Dot - Spot On

So, I guess I should forewarn you...I'm not a fan of the shopping party. Partly because I actually have to go somewhere and partly because once you get me there I'm inclined to buy far too much stuff (in other words I'm a home party sales consultant's dream). Plus these things just make me cranky because I'm generally thinking to myself (or at least muttering very quitely so as not interupt the highly fascinating sales presentation) that the stuff I'm seeing is either junk, overpriced or both. However, after that incredibly long preface, I've discovered a party I would willing go to and would happily buy too much stuff. Stella & Dot. They have fantasticly fun jewelry for both women and little girls at prices that I can tolerate. They also have sales on their website but, then you'd miss out on the vegetable platter and foamy punch.

Carlos Falchi Hits mark.

Carlos Falchi and mark. (Avon's baby sister) have teamed up to create a line inspired by Rio. There are some super cute earrings and purses that all have the Carlos Falchi tag (but not the $$$$). There are some good makeup items as well. I'm sort of hit and miss with mark. though. Sometimes they have some fantastic things at super low prices and others are just so-so. I usually really like their frangrances and earrings but their shoes and skin products I'd probably pass on.

Old is New Again!

OMG! If I have to keep re-doing my movie collection I think I might kill myself! ARRRGGHHHH! Fortunately Warner Bros. feels my pain. They have a new program called DVD2BLU where you can send in all of your Warner Bros. movies that you have on DVD and upgrade them to Blu-Ray for a $4.95 fee per movie. That's nicer than having to spend $20+ dollars to buy a new Blu-Ray movie for my Blu-Ray player when I already have it on DVD.

Sam Edelman Shoes on HSN.com

Sam Edleman is one of my favorite shoe brands. It's higher-end (translation: lovely, lovely leather that leaves my feet blister free) and it's not TOOOOO expensive at its regular retail price (about $100 - $150). But, if I can get it for cheaper I'm a very happy girl. You can get a fantastic Sam Edelman flat today on HSN.com for $29.90 (that's 70% off of its regular price!). The shoe is patent leather and comes in black, navy and tortise shell. I'm getting them all!

Hot Mama!

Today Gilt.com is focusing on creating hot mamas! They share my philosophy that you can be chic and pregnant at the same time (not to mention frugal as well!). Here are some of the styles you can find from American Maternity:

You can also get some great deals on the ever popular Petunia Picklebottom diaper bags and accesories! But only if you hurry!

Gotham City Online

One of my favorite places to buy shoes is from Gotham City Online. They have all the high-end brands (as discussed before, no plastic cells for this girl's feet) and they have SUPER cheap shipping ($4.99 for your entire order even if it's 20 pairs of shoes). Gotham City Online also has 2 eBay seller ID's (Gotham City Online and Gotham Exchange). Shipping is more expensive ($9.99 for your first pair and $4.99 for each additional pair you buy from the same ID) but you can usually find the same shoes that Gotham has on their home site on their eBay alternatives. So do your math girls! One word of caution, Gotham does not pay for return shipping. Shipping on shoe boxes (especially tall boots) can be expensive so know what you're buying before you buy it.

Lazy Cleaning Strategies

So I have an admission. I'm a complete sucker for gadgets. Especially gadgets that will make my life more organized or help me do household chores faster. I'm usually disappointed with stuff because I think they should magically do things for me and it turns out I actually have to use the gadget for it to work. That's why I like gadgets that work on the osmosis theory (in other words things that work without me standing there and holding it). One of my favorite brands if Joy Magano on HSN. Here are my favorites:

1. Huggable Hangers: These are velvet flocked hangers that are available in both shirt and pant hangers. They're great because they're thin so you can fit more in your closet, the flocking actually works to keep your clothes on the hangers even when you're digging through your closet, and they're great for your "line dry" items as you can put wet clothes on them and you won't get those crazy hanger bumps in the shoudlers of your shirts. PLUS they come in a ton of colors so you can pick your favorite and have a closet that completely matches.

2. Steam Cleaner: This thing is MAGIC! I'll leave something hanging on my towel bar and just put this thing underneath it and when I come back a few minutes later my clothes are completely wrinkle free. I guess if you're more of a go-getter you can actually change the heads for different fabrics and then run the steamer over your item but, like I said earlier...osmosis.

Plus- today's special bonus on HSN is free shipping on all Joy Magano items. In HSN terms that's pretty huge.

Happy Earth Day Baby!

So, in scouring the internet today I've come across a ton of eco-friendly stuff in honor of Earth Day. I'm all about recycling and taking care of the earth except for the Greenies insistance that I wear plastic on feet. I don't know about you but putting my feet into sweat-inducing, blister-making little cells makes me lose my mind. However, there are tons of items that are earth-friendly that also make me happy. For instance, on Gilt today they have a whole range of earth-friendly items from totes and clothes to baby gear. It seems like I'm constantly buying baby gifts so why not buy something earth-friendly and cute (not to mention cheap!). 3 Sprouts is offering the following on Gilt today:

Or you can give an organic shout-out to your home town with Maptote Onsies:

Or you can give baby their first bio-degradeable water bottle from SIGG:

Tart Clothes

OK, so I was aware of the make-up line Tarte but I have never heard of Tart Clothes until today. Apparently I was seriously missing out. Ideeli has this line on their site today and I think I just went into a shopping coma (too much stuff, not enough money....) At any rate, prices are reasonable: Tops start at $22 and dresses at $45. Here's a small sample:

Jeans for Real Girls

OK...I don't know about you but, I'm a curvy girl (translation: larger than a size 2) and I have a hard time finding jeans that are both fashionable and decently priced. I know I can always opt for the Old Navy specials but, when I walk through Nordstroms or some other high-end store and see the $300 pair of whatever happens to be the hot denim this week I wish I could find my size in them. But, I have found options!

1. KUT from the KLOTH jeans: These are actually carried almost exclusively at Nordstrom's (you can also find them online at Nordstoms.com). These jeans are fantastic! They're super cute and you can usually find them on sale for $59. They even have versions that have the button-flap back pockets just like their more expensive, fancier-named siblings.

2. My True Fit website: This website is, in a word, AWESOME! However, one word of caution; for it to work correctly you actually have to measure yourself and then use your ACTUAL measurements. If you're like me, I was horrified and couldn't eat anything greasy or fatty for several days (OK, several minutes but that's just semantics). At any rate, after you're done measuring yourself the site has this nifty calculator that goes through all of its brands and finds not only the best brands for you but also the correct size for you. It will also give you recommendations on what the fit would be like if you went up or down a size (this would be for you girls who believe that the general public can actually see the size of your clothes with their x-ray vision). This site specializes in girls like me who want the designer jeans but in real girl sizes. But, this option isn't as good as the option above as you will pay with an arm (and probably a leg too) on this website.

3. Not Your Daughter's Jeans & Jag Jeans: These are still pretty good choices if you're desperate for some new jeans that have a zipper longer than 1 inch but that also doesn't go up to your belly-button. Almost all versions of both of these lines have quite of bit of spandex in them so they're pretty stretchy. But, each one addresses different problem areas. The Jag line focuses on lifting and tightening the butt (in other words, no more pancake butt). Not Your Daughter's Jeans is more concerned with tummy rolls then with your butt. It has a nice panel in most of its jeans that are tummy tamers. However, due to the fact that these are both pretty spandexy lines that are designed to suck in your trouble spots, if you get a size that is smaller than your correct size you will have a sizeable muffin-top. You can find Not Your Daughter's Jeans at Nordstroms and Macy's and Jag Jeans can be found at Nordstroms, Macy's and HSN.
