Jeans for Real Girls

OK...I don't know about you but, I'm a curvy girl (translation: larger than a size 2) and I have a hard time finding jeans that are both fashionable and decently priced. I know I can always opt for the Old Navy specials but, when I walk through Nordstroms or some other high-end store and see the $300 pair of whatever happens to be the hot denim this week I wish I could find my size in them. But, I have found options!

1. KUT from the KLOTH jeans: These are actually carried almost exclusively at Nordstrom's (you can also find them online at Nordstoms.com). These jeans are fantastic! They're super cute and you can usually find them on sale for $59. They even have versions that have the button-flap back pockets just like their more expensive, fancier-named siblings.

2. My True Fit website: This website is, in a word, AWESOME! However, one word of caution; for it to work correctly you actually have to measure yourself and then use your ACTUAL measurements. If you're like me, I was horrified and couldn't eat anything greasy or fatty for several days (OK, several minutes but that's just semantics). At any rate, after you're done measuring yourself the site has this nifty calculator that goes through all of its brands and finds not only the best brands for you but also the correct size for you. It will also give you recommendations on what the fit would be like if you went up or down a size (this would be for you girls who believe that the general public can actually see the size of your clothes with their x-ray vision). This site specializes in girls like me who want the designer jeans but in real girl sizes. But, this option isn't as good as the option above as you will pay with an arm (and probably a leg too) on this website.

3. Not Your Daughter's Jeans & Jag Jeans: These are still pretty good choices if you're desperate for some new jeans that have a zipper longer than 1 inch but that also doesn't go up to your belly-button. Almost all versions of both of these lines have quite of bit of spandex in them so they're pretty stretchy. But, each one addresses different problem areas. The Jag line focuses on lifting and tightening the butt (in other words, no more pancake butt). Not Your Daughter's Jeans is more concerned with tummy rolls then with your butt. It has a nice panel in most of its jeans that are tummy tamers. However, due to the fact that these are both pretty spandexy lines that are designed to suck in your trouble spots, if you get a size that is smaller than your correct size you will have a sizeable muffin-top. You can find Not Your Daughter's Jeans at Nordstroms and Macy's and Jag Jeans can be found at Nordstroms, Macy's and HSN.

Vera Wang Lavendar Label

Gilt.com has a fantastic sale today on Vera Wang Lavendar Label. Her Lavendar Label is one of her more "affordable" brands but in these troubled times who can pay $200 for a cardigan? Anyway, there are several pieces priced at $80 or below and a lot of them are basic pieces (like this scrumptious cardigan at $78) that you'll get to use tons of times!
Remember, this is an invitation-only website (you have to be invited to join by a current memeber) send a comment with your request for an invitation and your e-mail address. Comments are not posted on this site (unless, of course, they are ultra flattering to me) :)

Home Cha-Cha!

Nate Berkus has a fantastic line of home goods on HSN.com and there is a ton of it on Clearance that will add just the right amount of cha-cha to your house.

Free People!

Bluefly.com is one of my favorite sites. It is however hit and miss with it's prices. Here's a big hit: Get a Free People Henley for only $35.25. That's 55% off regular price! I love these Henley's because they're comfy, figure flattering, and if you wear them with a cute blazer and cami are great for layering without being weighed down.

Chadwicks - Free Sweater with Purchase

OK, so this is a new tactic. Chadwicks is offering a free ruffle sweater with any $39 purchase. This is very exciting as I love free stuff almost as much as I love to save money! The promo code you need to use is CHWRAP.

Ann Taylor Loft - Additional 25% off

Ann Taylor Loft is having an additional 25% sale on their already reduced merchandise. This is an online only sale so hurry on over.

Bathroom Chic

A fashionable girl knows that even her house needs to reflect her personal style. So here's a great deal on some things for your bath. Bloomingdale's is having a home sale until January 19th where there are tons of great home designers at 20-50% off of regular prices. One great deal in particular are these Lauren by Ralph Lauren towels. You get a caviar product at a tunafish price.
Lawton Towels by Lauren Ralph Lauren (Bath Towel $9.99, Bath Sheet $15.99)

Diane Von Furstenberg Shoes - Droolworthy

So, if you're like me, you find yourself wondering why the world is full of fantastic shoes if I have such little time to wear them all...but, if you have some great basic pumps that go with everything you'll feel like you have 10 different shoes all in one pair. Here's a great pair from Diane Von Furstenberg at a really great price ($88). They're on Gilt.com for the next 2 days and come in several colors (black leather, black patent, and silver leather). OOOOHHHH, fan me, I feel faint after a good shoe orgy :)

Makeup Is A Gir's Best Friend!

Every girl knows that if you want high-end makeup you have to pay full price because it almost never goes on sale. But here are a few spots where you can get some good deals on fantastic makeup:

MAC: Is one of my favorite brands because they have unique highly pigmented colors and their base makeups like foundation and powder don't have a crazy perfume smell or feel overly heavy (unless you have a case of user error). They're having a 25% off sale that ends tonight, Jan. 8th, 2009. Here's the code: MACFF9

Sephora: This place is heaven on earth! All the different brands! They always have value sets (see picture below) that are reasonably priced and free shipping after $50 or $75 is spent in the store before tax. They also have a fantastic VIP program that gives you free almost full-sized goodies after $100 spent and sends invites to fantastic events. Join at all costs!

QVC: I know, crazy old ladies shop at QVC. But sometimes crazy shopping geniuses shop at QVC. It ain't your grandmothers QVC anymore! They have fantastic brands and value sets from Philosophy, Sephora, and Smashbox. They also have convenient payment plans for you fashionistas that need it now but are short on cash. Finally they have huge bulk sizes which are hard to find (sort of like Costco for the beauty-minded). Here's a sample of their Philosophy Microdelivery Wash in the bulk size. Under $45! One word of caution though....watch the shipping charges. I usually try to search the Internet for free shipping codes or you can join their e-mail update list and you'll occasionally get free shipping invitations.

Invitation Only Shopping Sites - Ideeli & Gilt

So I don't know how many of you know about invitation only shopping sites but, some of the best deals I've ever seen on high-end goods (Gucci, Chanel, etc.) are on these sites. You have to know someone to get in but, after you're in you're going to enter a whole new world of shopping bliss. Lucky for you all I'm a member of of several sites such as GILT.com and IDEELI.com. In fact right now on Ideeli you can buy Salvatore Ferragamo clutches on sale for about $150.00! That's not bad. Send a comment with your e-mail address if you're interested in being invited to join. Comments are not posted on this site, unless of course you're going to tell me how fabulous I am.

Paul Frank Hat and Gloves $12.00

OK...so here's one I couldn't keep to myself. At PsycoBabyOnline.com they have fantastic things for your hip and cool baby. It's not your normal cutsey baby stuff. Anyway, they usually have Paul Frank on sale but today they have a Paul Frank kit set with a beanie and a pair of gloves that are super cute! Usually retails for $42.00, they've got it for $12.00. Awesome gift that will leave people believing that you spent a ton of money when you really didn't (it'll be our secret).

Grand Entry #1

So this is my very first post ever. I've discovered that I have become very good at searching out deals both on the internet and in brick and mortar stores. In fact my friends and family always e-mail me if they're ever shopping for something and want it at a deal I generally know where to find it (or at least where to start looking!!!) Anyway, I hope you all enjoy my blog and hopefully you find some good deals you'd like to take advantage of :)
